Today’s CO2 air guns are very realistic. If you think displaying a realistic-looking air gun to a perp will avert them, think again! You can’t count on dangerous people to have the same common sense that you have.
Most criminals have a low or no respect for guns. They count on the fact that you don’t have the nerve to follow through. A realistic looking air gun doesn’t phase them.
Criminals are not known to be sane or in their right minds. In the first place they are not rational. Also, they may be high on drugs or drunk. To threaten them may provoke them.
Assume you have powerful .357, .45 or .50 caliber pre-charged pneumatic air gun. A PCP powerful enough to humanly drop an animal 130 to 200 pounds like a bad habit.
Imagine that an armed intruder has just broken into your home in the middle of the night. You reach for your PCP air gun, take aim and pull the trigger… you hear a “click.” All of the air has leaked out… what are you going to do now? Probably nothing because you have been shot dead.

What helped to convince me… I had a new .50 caliber air rifle that I wound up with because of an order cancellation. It had 200 BAR or 2,900 psi air pressure in it and I leaned it against the wall in my air gun testing room and periodically checked the gauge. The gauge did not move for months, then one day, it read zero air pressure. I sent it into the gunsmiths to have it gone through and it turned that all of the o-rings had become brittle and without warning, all of the air leaked out!
