Beeman Precision Airguns is one of the best, most well known and respected names in the high end pellet gun industry. Professor Robert Beeman was a San Francisco biology professor with a lifelong passion for air guns that started in his childhood. In the early 1970’s this passion led Professor Beeman to start importing high end, precision pellet rifles and pistols from Europe, for his now world famous, personal gun collection. Professor Beeman had to important these high end sports targeting shooting and hunting airguns from Europe, because he was unable to find what he wanted in the USA. However, Professor Beeman and his wife, Toshiko, saw a budding US market for high powered precision pellet rifles and pistols. Professor Beeman also knew the many advantages to owning a quality European airgun, over their cheap US counterparts, and wanted to provide American hunters and sports shooters with the products and information they needed. This desire, coupled with Professor Beeman’s ability to speak fluent German allowed him to develop a rapport and good relationships with many well-known high end European pellet gun manufacturers, including Feinwerkbau and Weihrach.  Professor Beeman found himself as the exclusive importer of these and many other high end European airguns. He and his wife soon began selling these top rated precision pellet rifles and pistols from their home. And that is how the now world famous Beeman Precision Airgun Company began.

However, Professor Beeman did not stop there. With his knowledge of airguns and the needs of his American customers, Professor Beeman started creating his own designs as well as tweaking the designs of some of the P-series pistols and R-series rifles he offered. The high end German manufactures agreed and manufactured air guns for Beeman using his designs, and even put the Beeman name on the side of them. These early P-series Beeman pistols and R-series air rifles were hugely successful. Beeman’s innovative designs met the needs of a conservative yet demanding US market and his aggressive marketing campaign was exactly what was needed. Beeman took a page from Robert Laws book and explained to US customers in detail the difference between the high end Beeman air rifles and pistols offered in the Beeman catalog and your normal everyday air gun. This created value and showed people why they should spend more money for a similar product.  They were also in full color and showed pictures of beautiful women. Today, original Beeman Precision AirGun Company R-series pellet rifles, P-series pistols and even the catalogs are extremely collectible and are really what started the high end precision air gun market in the US.

In 1993 Professor Beeman and his wife sold their Beeman Precision Airgun Company to SR Industries.  SR Industries then moved Beeman Precision Airguns to Huntington Beach, CA to coexist with their other airgun brand, Marksman. The Beeman line was revised in a major way. Many of the original R-series sports rifles and P-series pistols were taken out of the catalog and were never replaced. Over the next 16 years the once amazing Beeman Precision Airguns catalog got thinner and thinner and less and less informative. The message turned to straight sales, as cheap, lower quality air rifles and pellet pistols from Spain and other countries were introduced into the once proud Beeman line.  Even the catalogs were eventually replaced by smaller pamphlets, with only the new pellet guns.  Then in 2009 new life was breathed back into the company when Beeman Precision Airguns was sold to the Industry Brand of Shanghai, China. They were already a major airgun manufacturer and wanted the Beeman name to help sell high end air rifles and pellet pistols in the USA. They also wanted the rights to Beeman Precision Airguns’ innovative designs and technology. Today the Industry Brand of Shanghai, continues to import, distribute, service and sell high-end Beeman air guns in the US through online pellet gun dealers, like me.
