President Reagan, a long time fan of Clint Eastwood--

"I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers: Go ahead, make my day."

—March 13, 1985, in a speech threatening to veto legislation raising taxes.

"Go ahead Dudes, Make my Day!"

Granny is out for a stroll using her walker, minding her own business. Two punks on a motorcycle, who should be minding their own business, spot her, decide to harass her and then snatch her purse.

"Seizing" the opportunity, the punks stop and hold up Granny's purse as if to say that she has helped to "Make their Day." Click on the appropriate View button to see how the punks instead have helped Granny to "Make her Day."
A funny picture featuring President Bush as Dirty Harry, telling Saddam Hussein, "Go ahead, punk, make my day."
"Make my Day"

This line was made famous by the Clint Eastwood character Inspector (Dirty) Harry Callahan in the 1983 film Sudden Impact - the fourth film of the Dirty Harry series.

Callahan encouraged felons to commit crimes so that he would have an excuse to shoot them.

In Sudden Impact he dares a crook to shoot his hostage with the line "Go on punk, make my day".

Dirty Harry wasn't the first to use the phrase with that meaning though. It had been spoken earlier by the character Tom Walsh - played by Gary Swanson in the film Vice Squad (1982). In that film the line was, "Go ahead scumbag, make my day".
